"Our Inspiration: The Story Behind Lancaster Spirits Company

At Lancaster Spirits Company, our journey is more than just a quest to create exceptional spirits – it's a story of inspiration, dedication, and the unwavering pursuit of excellence.

Our story begins with a dream, nurtured over many years of passionate discussions and shared ambitions. As the Lancaster Brewery thrived in its current premises, the idea of incorporating distillation alongside our brewing operations took root. The vision was clear: to craft spirits and beers exclusively within our one-acre site, creating a seamless experience from grain to glass.

In 2019, a pivotal moment arrived when local beer enthusiast Ben Ruth approached one of our directors, Phil Simpson, to discuss the possibility of bringing this vision to life. Months of careful planning and analysis followed, leading to the procurement of a bespoke still with two columns and a gin basket, marking the official inception of Lancaster Spirits Company.

However, our journey was not without its challenges. Driven by a commitment to craftsmanship, we made the bold decision to manufacture our own ethanol directly from beer produced at the brewery. This decision, while ambitious, presented numerous obstacles, from delays to additional costs, and a steep learning curve.

Yet, through resilience and determination, we persevered. In April 2021, our gleaming copper still arrived, signaling a new chapter in our story. However, the road to success was fraught with trials and tribulations, from flavor taints to burst seams, from leaks to supply issues.

Undeterred, we pressed on, guided by the expertise of our consultant Master Distiller, Mr. Gerard Evans. Together, we embarked on a journey of refinement and innovation, resulting in a subtle, clean, and velvety base spirit, unique to Lancaster Spirits Company.

Today, as we reflect on our journey, we are inspired by the spirit of perseverance and the pursuit of excellence that defines our story. Lancaster Spirits Company is more than a distillery – it's a testament to the power of passion, dedication, and the relentless pursuit of perfection.
